The Road to Wildly Human

Why We Chose Aguada
Aguada wasn’t the most obvious choice… That’s exactly why we love it.
Wildly Human was never meant to be dropped into the busiest tourist strip or built around the easiest possible commute. We wanted somewhere with more soul. More space. More ocean. More room to exhale.
Aguada is known as both El Pueblo Playero (The Beach Town) and La Ciudad del Descubrimiento (The City of Discovery) — which feels almost too perfect for a retreat built around ocean connection, exploration, and remembering who you are beneath the noise.
The Beach Town gives us the saltwater magic: barefoot mornings, warm ocean air, slow afternoons, and those epic west coast sunsets that make everyone stop mid-sentence.
The City of Discovery gives us the invitation: to explore the island, the coastline, the conversations, the unfamiliar, and the parts of ourselves that are ready for a little more light.
Yes, Aguada may ask you to travel a little farther if you’re flying into San Juan, but that extra stretch across the island is part of the shift.
By the time you arrive, you haven’t just gotten to the retreat, you’ve already started leaving ordinary behind.

Getting to Aguada
There are two primary airport options for reaching our retreat property in Aguada.
Option 1: Fly into Aguadilla (BQN)
The closest major airport to the retreat, located approximately 30 minutes from the property. Depending on your departure city, this route may require a connection but offers the simplest arrival experience.
Option 2: Fly into San Juan (SJU)
San Juan often offers more flight options and greater flexibility. From there, guests can:
- Rent a car and enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive across Puerto Rico (~$300/group round-trip – plus you have a rental car for exploring purposes!)
- Arrange private transportation from SJU to the house: $250 for up to 3 passengers (add $25 each for additional passengers) https://www.welastransport.com/airportform
- Take a short local flight from San Juan (SJU) to Mayagüez (MAZ), located approximately 25 minutes from the retreat property https://www.capeair.com/
No matter how you choose to make your way west, the journey to Aguada becomes part of the retreat itself — a chance to see more of the island, feel its rhythm, and begin connecting with Puerto Rico before you even arrive at the house.

Getting Back to Home Sweet Home
To make your departure even easier, Light House Retreats will provide a complimentary shuttle from our retreat house to Mayagüez Airport (MAZ) at 7:30 AM on departure day for guests flying out of San Juan.
If you would like to reserve a seat on the shuttle, please let us know in advance, as space is limited and advance registration is required.
Of course, guests are also welcome to rent a car, arrange private transportation, or travel through San Juan if they prefer. We’re happy to help answer questions and explore travel options with you as you plan your trip.
