This is where you get to customize your retreat experience—choose the extras that make your trip feel perfectly you. Airport transfers are a must-add so you can land, exhale, and we’ll take it from there.
Because our retreat bookings are non-refundable, we highly recommend adding travel insurance—New England winters have claimed retreaters before, and we’re not letting a surprise storm (or life stuff) mess with your beach plans ❄️➡️🏝️
Where to get it:
- Through your airline at checkout (easy, but usually more basic coverage)
- A travel insurance comparison site like InsureMyTrip or Squaremouth (great for comparing plans + prices)
- Direct from a provider like Allianz, Travelex, Seven Corners, or World Nomads (pick what fits your trip best)
You’ll want to book your flight into Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR)—it’s the closest airport to our retreat accommodations. JetBlue, American Airlines, and Delta all offer routes from the Boston area to LIR.
Important: If you’re using our group airport transfers, you must fly into Liberia (LIR) to be included.
We offer discounted group transfers between Liberia (LIR) Airport and our villa for just $25 per person, each way. You’ll need to reserve this ahead of time so we can plan shuttles based on flight arrivals.
How it works (what we can tell you now):
- After you clear customs and you’re ready to leave the airport, look for the person holding a Light House Retreats sign — that’s your shuttle.
- Want a buddy? Use the group chat to connect with fellow travelers and walk out together if you prefer.
- Your exact shuttle time will be shared once we’ve received everyone’s flight numbers and have a headcount for each shuttle.
The day-before details: We’ll post the exact step-by-step procedure in the group chat the day before arrival (since our staff will be experiencing it too, we’ll be able to tell you exactly what to expect).
🌊🛍️🍴We’ll be spending a day exploring Playa Flamingo—a fun beach town with great food, shopping, a pier, and plenty of water sports + excursion options (snorkeling, boat trips, and more).
Guests will be responsible for purchasing their own lunch during this outing so you can roam, explore Playa Flamingo, and choose the local spot + flavors that call to you.
💛 Gratuity is not included in your retreat price. Tips are never required and are always 100% at your discretion, but if someone is providing a service, it’s a kind way to say thank you.
Who to tip (and when):
- Airport transfer driver: tip at the end of your ride (cash is great)
- 1:1 service providers (massage, reiki, reading, private sound healing, etc.): gratuity isn’t included — we suggest 15–20%
- Our maid, Mercedes (daily light cleaning): we recommend leaving $20 per person total at the end of your trip
- Our culinary team (Chef + assistant): we’ll collect a group gratuity to gift at our last dinner
- Suggested contribution: $20–30 per day per person (or about $5–10 per meal)
Extra tip: If you venture out around town, it’s smart to have a little cash on hand for tips along the way (taxis, guides, etc.).
If there’s anyone else you’re wondering about, just ask us in the group chat and we’ll guide you.
Retreat enhancements, like airport transfers, food & drink packages, apparel, one-on-one sessions and more can still be booked at www.LightHouse-Retreats.com/enhancements/
